Instructions

  1. 1
Decarboxylize cannabis for at least 40 minutes at 230°F (110°C) in the oven.
  2. 2
Melt butter, water, and cannabis in a pot on the lowest heat setting.
  3. 3
Simmer for 2-3 hours at maximum 185°F (85°C) without boiling. Stir regularly.
  4. 4
Add lecithin and stir in well.
  5. 5
Strain through a fine sieve or cheesecloth into a bowl, squeeze out the cannabis matter.
  6. 6
Let harden in the refrigerator (at least 4 hours).
  7. 7
Separate the hardened butter from the water sediment at the bottom—this is your finished budder.
  8. 8
Remove water, portion budder into ice cube trays, and freeze.

Pro Tips

  • Lecithin as an emulsifier ensures even THC distribution and better absorption.
  • Budder has less water content than regular cannabutter—keeps 3 months in the freezer.
  • For maximum yield: cook the cannabis matter again with fresh butter after straining.
