Instructions
-
1Cook potatoes, mash while hot. Stir in cannabis butter and regular butter until fully absorbed. Gradually stir in hot milk — mash should be very creamy. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
-
2Brown ground meat in a pan without fat over high heat until crumbly. Pour off excess fat.
-
3Add onions, carrots, and garlic to the meat, simmer 5 minutes. Stir in tomato paste, toast for 2 minutes.
-
4Deglaze with red wine, bring to a boil. Add broth, thyme, and bay leaf. Reduce for 15 minutes until sauce is thick. Remove bay leaf.
-
5Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
-
6Place meat mixture in a baking dish. Spread cannabis potato mash evenly over top and press down gently.
-
7Distribute Gruyère over the mash. Bake 20-25 minutes until golden brown on top.
Pro Tips
- Stir cannabis butter into the hot potato mash, not into the meat filling — this keeps dosing controllable.
- The mash must be very hot and very creamy — then it bonds with the meat while baking.
- Red wine gives the filling depth — if you prefer to skip it, use broth with 1 tbsp balsamic.
- Hachis Parmentier is the perfect make-ahead dish — prepare up to 2 days ahead, bake before serving.
